sewing clinic

We sell up cycled clothes at the shop.
Generally we make the garments ourselves .
We also sell collections people make at home and we sell for them
an increasing amount of this is from people we teach how to sew.

We do free sewing classes .
While you are learning you make clothes for us.
you can come in for a day or a week

Here's Rory, my husband,
He does all the sewing and lessons..

We have sewing clinics
every month .
Here you can bring in your sewing machine and learn some basics.
or if you need to learn more specific techniques
like putting in a zip.
drop in .
We operate this on a tip giving basis.
our next one is Saturday 16th march.
3-6.

Jane in for a sewing class.

She remade this top

Finished cape made from a pattern.

Looking lovely on this customer.
everything is one - off

Rory broke his leg.
so i have become a nurse.

I bought this jacket from portobello market in London,
they came from Roumania.
i bought every colour he had .

My nurse tunic from portobello market.
i think its an old costume.

I love these comfy Victorian style boots which do actually fit me.!!

Lucy, what a wonderful place you run there...I'd love to pop along and learn how to put a zip in PROPERLY. I just can't do it, always ends up annoyingly bumpy and I'm crap at button holes too.
I do like to see a man in front of a sewing machine, I remember at school all the boys recoiled in horror when the had to do needlework/sewing classes and most girls where the same when they had to do the woodwork classes...I loved both even though our sewing teacher was a borderline sadomasochist.
Poor Rory I hope his leg mends quickly, I am very happy for him that he has such a fabulous looking nurse.
That Romanian jacket is splendid...xXx

I'm very sorry for Rory, I send him all my best wishes for a speedy recovery! How I'd love to attend his sewing classroom, I can sew,I've been in a Fashion School, but at that time I prefer to draw and all I know about sewing is almost self taught and rather experimental!
I am a little obsessed with antique nurse costumes and nurses lately, I swear, I dream to buy a piece I found on etsy from the first world war and I love artist Richard Price Nurses painting series, so I want to express my most sincere admiration and appreciation for this outstanding outfit!!!!
The boots and the jacket are wonderful too!
Love xxxxx

I'm so disappointed I can't hop over the Irish sea and hang out and learn some dress making skills. Your friends and pupils are all fantastic. I love the jacket, not surprised you bought one in every colour. Love the Victorian boots too. Xx

This is SUCH an awesome idea! Brillant stuff, and I love that gif!
You get some fabularse looking peeps through, and no wonder, if you offer such things as classes as well as splendid shopping.
Bummer about Rory's leg, what a nuisance and how uncomfortable. I hope you're been administering the medicinal whisky!!! You look perfect in the part! Vintage nurses had it going ON! XXX
